Taiwan Tigers Venture Challenge
A small group of business fans gathered at BCDog cafe on 10 April, to talk about opportunities in Taiwan - and to share their latest ventures.

We come from different backgrounds, but we're united in our love for opportunity and the belief that we can make change in the world. Entrepreneurs are people who look around them and say "I can improve on that," and our crowd on Sunday was a very positive dynamic collection of people: a few students, Venture Capitalists and bankers, business owners and managers, and concerned citizens looking for new insights to the way the world works. We had a great time, and heard some very interesting proposals: |

Adam, now living in Taichung, introduced us to his successful business - teaching Chinese online - before talking about his new venture.
We had a lively debate about how people use the internet today, and what the future holds. Adam educated several of us about online trends and technologies, and impressed eveyone with the clarity of his vision. .. .

Eduard proposed a very compelling vision for the future of personal transport in Taipei, which captured everyone's imagination.
In a talk containing full of numbers and technical detail, he also answered a lot of questions about economic fundamentals and global technology trends. He's obviously done a lot of research, and seems to be making a lot of headway with this ambitious project, which was an eye-opener for many of us. . |

Sven has chosen Taiwan as the headquarters for his global business, which is targetting the luxury market through a specialised sales network in cities worldwide.
This was probably the most fun of all the talks, and excited a lot of chat about branding and product design. . |
Everyone was really impressed with the quality of the businesses presented, and the amount of preparation and research done by the speakers. The quality of questions was also very high, and it was nice to see some younger Taiwanese people - the so-called strawberry generation - taking part.
Our first TEDxSalon event, this was a great succcess and we look forward to the next one!
