You may want to draw your customers' attention to especially important pages on your site. It's easy to do that just by adding software that does it for you. There are various ways to do it, but the simplest is to use a "newsflash" feature, which displays the opening text from a certain page in the place you specify. 

As you can see, newsflashes can be made to appear and disappear at will. You can specify where they go and how they look! The example above is just one of the many ways that you can highlight important messages!

There is also a 'ticker' above. At the moment the text is green and enclosed in a box. This is simply a design choice. Design can be changed independently of content, so you can continue to display the words, or images, but change the colours and layouts. Simple.  

Actually, features like this are functionalities. They're nothing to do with design. Good websites use different functionalities in order to show the right information to the reader at the right time. So you may choose to put this feature on your front page only, or on every page, or on the most popular pages, or next to specially chosen pages like this one. Web 2.0 puts you in control of how you communicate with your customer. And it's easy!
